Heavy Table Celebates Real Minnesota Food

heavy-table1 I'm hooked on The Heavy Table, a new online magazine that's all about Minnesota and Upper Midwestern food. From the About section of their website:

The Heavy Table is a Twin Cities-based magazine passionately telling the stories of food and drink — from roots to table — in the Upper Midwest. We are interested in small, neighborhood restaurants; ethnic eateries with a story to tell; great home cooking; Upper Midwestern culinary traditions; stuff that’s hilarious; recipes that work; recipes that fail spectacularly; current events; local food; heirloom food; and people at all levels of the food creation, preparation, distribution and consumption chain [...]heavy-table The Heavy Table is a positive voice with integrity. We will call people out on lousy value and bad hospitality. But we prefer to celebrate the delicious, the creative, the honest, and the heartwarming.

The site is an embarrassment of simple, good, and tasty Upper Midwestern food riches, many of which are local, sustainable, and/or organic. The Heavy Table covers subjects as far-ranging as the release of Summit Horizon Red Ale, the CSA Fair at the Seward Co-op, The Minneapolis Farmers Market's first weekend, and an interview with Twin Cities food stylists. They also list all sorts of good local food resources, sites, topics, current events, and news items. The Heavy Table is a great way to find out what's going on in local food. Well worth checking out.
