January Local Food Event Announced! Family Style Meal at Brasa St. Paul for $30!

I've said it before, and I'll keep saying it: I'm a lucky guy. Not only do I get to spend my time with some of the most important and talented food producers, chefs, restaurateurs, and organizations in the world - I also get to work with these people I greatly admire - people like Chef Alex Roberts - to create local food events that are truly unique.

January's event will be especially great: a three course meal at Brasa Premium Rotisserie in St. Paul, served family style, for only $30. The menu isn't locked down, but it will likely feature locally raised goat from Shepherd's Song, beef from Thousand Hills Cattle Company, smoked turkey from Schultz Family Farm, chicken from Kadejan, and grain from Dry Weather Creek (vegetarian options will be offered too.)

Alex will be speaking about the menu and about his three restaurants (which include two Brasa locations and Restaurant Alma), and several producers will be on hand to speak as well.

If you're not familiar with Alex, here are a few quick highlights:

  • He was nominated for the James Beard Award for the best chef in the midwest in 2007, 2008, and 2009.
  • He was named the Best Chef in Minneapolis by the City Pages in 2008.
  • Mother Nature Network recently named him on of the country's 40 best chefs under 40 years old.
