Thanks for this, Lee. I've pulled all my radishes and have given them away because I never fell in love as much as I wanted to. I'll give them another chance next year because they really are so fun and rewarding to grow. Perhaps I didn't pick them small enough - that just may be the secret!
Your wife is awesome!
Be well, xo-Carla aka OneHealthyGirl.com
Dan,
Thanks for weighing - your points are great ones, as are the questions you ask. Maybe you can say more about some of the problems you allude to? I'd love to get a good discussion on the topic going, and to write more on this issue in the near future.
Thanks again,
Lee
We are saturating the farmers market market with too many markets everywhere. The full time truck farmers and I am one are having to run to more markets to make the same revenue.
For example we don't need another market on Sundays with Mpls Lyndale and Kingsfield open but someone is trying to open a market in Uptown. DId they survey any farmers? Do they care if this hurts the other markets? Why are they opening a market?
We have many problems on a local level not being addressed. BTW, St Paul and Mpls markets are open year around already and a couple of mostly meat vendors come each week.
Back off, friend. You eat EVERYTHING. Radishes are mine. There are not enough radishes to go around--they don't grow on trees, you know. (Well, you probably didn't know that until we started growing them.) You can have all the broccoli and cauliflower and most of the Brussels sprouts, but leave the radishes to me.

Appleton, WI's alternative high school switched to catering by Natural Ovens and the kids' (many with behavioral problems that got them removed from regular high schools) behavior changed for the better.
Also, my mom's boss was shocked recently when her grandson - who is fed a regular diet of various nuggets and Wonder Bread - asked for green beans after having them at school. Doesn't that make you smile?
