Why Our Program Matters
Hi friends,
Thanks for checking out the Local Food Lover section of Simple, Good, and Tasty. Since you’re here, I thought I’d let you know what this program is all about and why it exists. Here goes.
We started Simple, Good, and Tasty in March 2009 with one clear goal: to make it easy for people to choose local, sustainable, organic, and fair trade food. Helping people make the right choices, we reasoned, could help grow the market for more delicious and fulfilling foods. This, in turn, would encourage more people to farm in sustainable ways - and maybe even put a little bit of pressure on the ones who don’t.
This program is in support of our goal.
Our partners in the Simple, Good, and Tasty Local Food Lover program have been handpicked and vetted by our advisors (and me!). Every single one of our partners knows where their food comes from and supports sustainable growing practices. As we add new partners - which we're doing all the time - this core philosophy is central to our thought process and the way we intend to grow.
We’ve worked closely with our partners to create a program that:
- Is uniquely differentiated
- Gives people reasons to support people and products we love
- Supports sustainable farms
- Offers its participants big value
We think it should be easy to know which businesses walk the talk when it comes to good food. It should be easy to eat well and do good.
I also want to point out that 10% of our sales from this program go directly to the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy (IATP), an international, Twin Cities-based non-profit organization focused on fair trade and local food issues, including food deserts and farm to school programs. We appreciate and value the work IATP is doing, and we're happy to make our support known.
We’re proud of our program and what it represents. Please let us know what you think of it.
Sustainably yours,
Lee Zukor
