These are the things that the birds are free to indulge in when they're raised in sizeable tractor pens that are moved daily to clean forage and bedding on over 300 acres of land. The result is a bird that tastes nothing like a supermarket bird; it tastes better with fuller flavor and texture. As Kenneth says, ??it's like the difference between a fast-food burger and a filet mignon.?? J & K Poultry also offers turkeys that are raised just like the chickens. During the wintertime, the birds are free-ranged rather than pastured due to the weather. They're allowed to leave the barn and walk about, but the elements keep them from going too far. The birds will still be certified organic. Their packaging will read ??free-range?? rather than ??pasture-raised?? as it does throughout the rest of the year. Chickens should be available for purchase year-round from the farm as either whole birds, whole birds in parts, or by the part. Shipping is available. Contact the farm for details.
