According to Aaron Ellringer - Just Local Food is a unique enterprise, located in Eau Claire. As a cooperative store, home delivery service, buying club and farmers' market vendor, the goal of Just Local Food is in the name. While nearly all of the meat, dairy, eggs and produce sold by Just Local Food is either certified organic or naturally raised, it is also from local family farms. This way, the consumer can purchase with confidence, knowing that their food is both nutritious, fairly traded and healthy for the local economy. Recently, Just Local Foods opened their warehouse space for retail hours. We offer most of our delivery products on site as well as many new products. Here you will find season-extended produce, fresh cheese curds, deli items and more. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As for home delivery, the primary area this service is offered includes the City of Eau Claire, Altoona, Seymour and parts just south, west and north of there. Delivery day is Friday, year round. There is no minimum order and no charge for in-town delivery. The philosophy is to keep it simple, and to grow naturally and slowly. While there will be a full-service website with online ordering, eventually, for now customers can place orders in person, over the telephone or via email. Just Local Food also works with Natural Farms, a locally owned and operated natural foods distributor based in Madison. A food buying club is an association of people who get together to purchase food. As a group, our purchasing power increases and allows us to access the wholesale marketplace. By buying through wholesale distributors and directly from farmers, our members save money. Finally, Just Local Food has been at the Downtown Farmer's Market since May of 2004. The Farmers Market is a "producer only" market, which requires all vendors to actually produce the items that we sell. Because of our unique business model, and the fact that we are offering a product that helps diversify the market, the Board of the Farmers Market has allowed us a spot to sell milk, cheese, butter, water and coffee.
