From Sheila herself:
Sheila B’s Organic farm is 100% organic using raised beds and only 100% organic compost. No fertilizers or even organic allowed sprays are used. Weeds are hand picked, cut or turned under. Sometimes the goats help with weed control. All crops are original heirloom strains. Even in organic, hybrids developed for greater crop volume are lower in nutrients. We use only heirloom varieties for peak nutrient content as well as superior flavor.
CSA participants receive the first and the pick of all crops. Vegetables and fruit are picked the morning of delivery, never stored. Tentative delivery will be on Mondays. If you want to spend a day on the farm, and pick up your own produce, arrangements can be made.
Our CSA season will start in late spring, exact timing dependent on weather, to include spring crops at their peak (asparagus, rhubarb, early spinaches & lettuces, etc.) and delivery will continue until after the hard frost for fall vegetables. CSA shares are sold on a first come, first served basis and for the 2010 season are limited to 15 shares. The cost of the 2010 CSA is $525. CSA participants can order additional products to be included in their delivery such as eggs, organic moisture cream or skin care products, goat milk, soap, organic eggs, organic dog treats, etc. New products will be added over the growing season and an order form will be included in your first package of the month or by email.
