Oooo, tomatoes are finally around! I don't get why so many people aren't a fan of them. And the farm-fresh ones are so much better than the crunchy Bushel Boy ones.
The blueberries are great and I'm down to my last bowlful from the original 10#, with most of them getting frozen or dehydrated. I can't wait until the corn and tomatoes get on a roll so I can stockpile those in the freezer as well.
Tom - Thanks for the links. I'm reminded of Gordon Ramsey's recent initiatives about cooking. His show The F Word (great name, right?) takes non-cooks and gives them a night in his kitchen to learn that it's NOT that hard to make good, simple food. He's also urging women to go back to the kitchen - not in an oppressive way, but reminding them that cooking is healthy, fun, and doesn't trap you in generations past. Cooking doesn't need to be hard or time-consuming. You can throw a pork chop and steamed veggies on your family's plates in 20 minutes. There is a lot of education about cooking that needs to be done. The rewards outweigh the costs, and people just don't realize it.
Also, that study surprised me, too. I'm skeptical of some of the intentions behind it, and whether the scientists realize how big of a part micronutrients play in healthy living. But at any rate, organic still keeps the pesticides out of your mouth!

Sounds like another success! I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who is missing out on local tomatoes due to the milder weather this summer.
Can't wait to join you at one of these dinners.
