You left out the best part Lee, “We like to think of Zukor as a local foods evangelist.” Your so modest! Way to go, I’m happy for you and by the way… Have I told you I really like your blog?! Deb

Thank you Hungry Gardener, Alicia, and Kristen for the terrific thoughts, feedback, and links. I’m learning so much through this process, and gardening is one of the new joys. Shari is a terrific writer, and I’m glad to be able to help her share her thoughts.

in reply to: Fresh and Tasty at the St. Paul Farmers Market This Week
My husband and I have often talked about the fact that we drive to the SPFM down University and pass the (what I assume to be) Hmong farmers market at the Unidale Mall. I wonder if that’s part of why the SPFM feels whiter. Because the Unidale Mall market doesn’t seem white at all. Is there a way for the two to combine? I don’t know.

I started my first garden this year and I’m really developing a sense of connection to nature. And, since I don’t have the most green thumb, whenever I get anything to harvest it’s a wonderful sense of accomplishment. Truly it’s very cool to sit down to dinner and say I not only made this, I grew it too!
Your post reminds me of this great short film I saw called Fridays At The Farm. A filmmaker and his family decide to join a community supported organic farm. He starts out just an observer but then begins participating in the planting and harvesting of vegetables. His film talks about lots of the things you mention in your post. If you haven’t seen it, I think you’d really like it.
She had me at “You’ll be sexier!”
LOL.
Thanks for sharing this in today’s Fight Back Fridays carnival.
Cheers,
KristenM
