After all of this blogging about the local, organic Minnesota food we’ve been getting from the Harmony Valley Farm CSA, I’m excited to finally get the chance to visit the place. Harmony Valley has named Sunday, June 21 Strawberry Day, offering farm tours, strawberry picking, and other fun activities for the whole family from noon to 6 pm. Here are the details of the event, straight from the Harmony Valley site:
Our first on-farm celebration of the season! CSA members are welcome to come to the area and stay for the weekend, but the formal tour and event is on Sunday. We will be having a potluck lunch, wagon tours of the farm and most important-lots of strawberries! CSA members are welcome to eat as many strawberries as you desire, and you may pick four pints to take home free. (You may pick additional strawberries for $2.50/lb). This is your chance to experience Harmony Valley Farm up close with a field tour, meet the people who grow your food, and even get a chance to feed the animals! Family friendly-a great event for kids of all ages!
I’ve heard that Harmony Valley is a fantastic farm to visit, and I’m excited to meet the farmers who grow much of the food my family has been eating this spring. I can’t imagine a funner way to spend Fathers’ Day with my family (and good friends Erik and Kathy, who’re bringing their kids too).
