Twin Cities mega-garden store Bachman's (no relation to Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, thankgoodness!) is hosting a "grow your own" event at all of their floral, gift, and garden stores on Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and 3, from 10 am to 4 pm. The event is mostly a sale, of course, and includes the following discounts and activities (summarized here from the Bachman's website, which has a bit more detail):
- 40% off all potted vegetables and herbs and Ferry-Morse veggie and herb seeds (from 4/29 - 5/5)
- A plant-a-tomato benefit for Minnesota Children's Home Society & Family Services, at $5 per person from 10 am to 2 pm
- Hourly vegetable gardening demonstrations
- Tips for beginning gardeners, including information about organic gardening, CSAs, and recipes featuring local, sustainable, simple, good, and tasty food
- Free Minnesota Grown directories, featuring foods and farms (while supplies last)
- A veggie art show, featuring Art In Bloom, currently underway at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts
Thanks for the tip, Andrea!
