For the rest of you, here's your chance to find out. Here are the details:

  • What: May Simple, Good, and Tasty dinner at The Birchwood Cafe

birchwood3The amazingly gracious folks at the Birchwood are currently putting together a special meal that honors their own local food philosophy and highlights the foods and growers they love. I recently got a note from Tracy Singleton, owner of the Birchwood, and I want to share a piece of it here: We have planned 5 courses (soup & salad served together) for $25 to be paired with choice of 4 wine or beer tasting flights. Beer will be all local, wine will be sustainable. The dessert course will also be paired w/ dessert wine & coffee. The menu will be a Birchwood “Sampler” menu that highlights seasonal and local items, classic Birchwood items as well as some “off menu” selections to let [chef] Marshall have some fun and to highlight our special dinners as well as catering. [Our staff will] talk with your guests about the Birchwood and our values and how that plays out in the menu. [Manager] Jimmy will also talk about each beer and wine and the process behind the pairing. It’ll be a great dinner! The evening will feature:

  • Fantastic local food
  • A great, fun crowd
  • Live music
  • A (non-preachy) discussion of the food, where it came from, and how it was prepared
  • Information about the Birchwood and its suppliers
  • A word from the chef

Everyone's invited (until the list fills up - more than half of the slots are taken already). It's sure to be a memorable evening. Please come!
